When I received the samples of Oly-Fun multi-purpose craft material, the first thing I thought of to use it for was to pretty up the very boring pillow sitting on my front porch!
Since Oly-Fun is water resistant, it was the perfect material to make a cover for my poor pillow! It definitely needed some cheering up!
I started by cutting two pieces of white Oly-Fun a little bit bigger than my pillow. There is no grain so cutting is easy. Also, you can iron this material, just be sure to keep the temperature pretty low.
I grabbed three stencils that had some pretty leaves (Leaf Branches, Herbarium and Pinecones), along with fall colors from the DecoArt Media misters, and started adding some gorgeous patterns to one of the pieces of material.
One of the stencils got so covered in paint that it started to drip. I took advantage of that little issue and shook the stencil all over the fabric to create a great splattering effect.
To bring more dimension to the pattern I had created with the sprays and stencils, I decided to use the free motion stitching attachment for my sewing machine to do a little doodling around some of the leaves. Some of the leaves I went around a few times; some just once. If you don’t have this attachment, or a sewing machine for that matter, no worries! A black Sharpie or fabric marker will do the trick and give you similar results with the doodling.
The final step was to sew all four sides closed with a zig-zag stitch. Now I have a super cheerful addition to my porch for the fall! What would you use the Oly-Fun fabric for?

I wish I could sew. Love this pillow. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Jogry. No sewing skills needed for this! The free motion stitching can be done with a Sharpie and you can always use fabric glue to seal the edges of the fabric. The Oly-Fun material works great sewn or with glue. So just go for it!
So pretty! Great decoration for this time of year!
Thanks, Jen. I just love it!
