Art Journal Page – Flowers

Good morning TCW Crafters,

Taking some inspiration from this quote and the gorgeous TCW982 stencil – Wild Sunflowers to create a vase of flowers in my art journal today.

“People from a planet without flowers would think we must be made with joy the whole time to have such things about us” – Iris Murdoch

Hope you enjoy what I created!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

The Crafter’s Workshop products used within this page:
TCW982 – Wild Sunflowers
TCW975 – Random Bubbles
TCW1041 – Stacked Rocks
TCW1042 – Hole Punch Stencil
TCW9004 – Light & Fluffy modeling paste
TCW9067 – Gamboge stencil butter
TCW9068 – Marigold stencil butter
TCW9069 – Crimson stencil butter

If you enjoy seeing a page materialise quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is how the page came together step-by-step…

1 – Paint a quick background in blues. Dark blue on the right and light for the rest of the page. Using TCW1041 – Stacked Rocks, stencil over the light blue section with mint green paint. On the darker section stencil over with deep teal using TCW975 – Random Bubbles.

2 – Cut out a section of watercolour card into the shape of a vase. I am placing mine on the edge of the page so I cut a straight edge to line up with the edge of the page. Paint the vase in lemon yellow. Mix TCW9004 – Light & Fluffy modelling paste with just a smidge of TCW9069 – Crimson stencil butter to make a pale pink modeling paste. Stencil over the lemon vase through TCW1042 – Hole Punch Stencil.

3 – Next I grab TCW982 Wild Sunflowers stencils in both 12×12 size and 6×6 sizes. I work with these stencil in a number of ways. Firstly by spraying Dina Wakley gloss sprays over the top of the stencil and then stamping the stencil onto some watercolour card. Secondly, I use a mix of stencil butters – TCW9067 – Gamboge; TCW9068 – Marigold; TCW9069 – Crimson & TCW9066 – Orchid scraping the stencil butter across the entire stencil and then lifting it up and letting it dry. Cut out all the flowers once they are dry.

4 – I add a little purple watercolour to the vase to give it some shape and then I start to assemble the page using glue and double sided foam square to adhere the flowers to each other and to the page. I add the quote to the bottom of the page in simple handwriting… ah… now I just have to figure out how I am going to close the book 😀

I hope this pretty journal page brings a smile to your face and a bit of motivation to get you sitting at your craft table! Would love to see what you decide to create with the wonderful stencils and stencil butters from The Crafter’s Workshop!

Enjoy!
