Good morning friends. I have a really fun layout to share with you today. I decided to challenge myself not to use any patterned paper and to create my own die cuts using my metal dies and ColorSparx! I can’t even tell you how good it felt to pull out my tools and ColorSparx to create this fun layout.

Disclaimer: “The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.”
To begin, I added some water to my glass mat and then added a little bit of the Cerulean Blue and Chartreuse ColorSparx powders. I used a paint brush to mix the water and powders together. I added a lot of water with a little powder for a lighter hue and more powder with less water for a darker color. I even mixed them together to create different shades of blues and greens.

Next, I ran a few dies through my Sizzix machine with watercolor paper. Then, I colored them all using the ColorSparx powders with a paint brush. I switched from both colors across the word dies to show both colors and I just love it! Aren’t they beautiful!?

After that, I splashed the ink all over a sheet of watercolor paper. Once the ink was dry, I used the TCW2341 Random Bubbles slimline stencil to create the tiny bubbles using a blending brush and ink. I actually pulled out my green and blue brush and just started rubbing the excess ink from the brushes without applying any ink to create the subtle background of bubbles.

Once I was satisfied with the background, I used the TCW2322 Ocean Waves Slimline Stencil and a blending brush to create a wave using watercolor paper. Then, I fussy cut the waves from the paper using scissors.

Next, I mounted the wave at the bottom of the layout. I decided to do this, rather than just blend the stencil onto the layout because I wanted to be able to tuck the photos within the waves.

After the photos were placed down, I added all of the die cuts! This was super fun…putting all of those gorgeous die cuts all over the layout. I added glue to the words keeping them intact and then carefully, lifting the excess scrap from the words to keep them lined up nicely.

What do you think? It’s hard getting my son to cooperate with pictures these days… I gotta sneak them. 🙂
