Good morning TCW Crafters,

A pretty sunflower in my journal today using TCW575 – Joyful Sunflower and some lovely shimmery stencil butters. Hope you enjoy what I created!

1 – Beginning in a blank page of my Strathmore Mixed Media journal, I stencil through TCW737 – Love Sonnet with Versamark embossing ink and then heat emboss with white embossing powder. I gently add some watercolour over the background so I can see it better

2 – Using TCW575 – Joyful Sunflower I tape over the inner seed part of the sunflower. Using TCW9067 Gamboge stencil butter and TCW9068 Marigold stencil butter I stencil through the petaled portion of the stencil. I dry this thoroughly.

3 – Whilst drying I add a deeper wash of watercolours to the background in deep teals and blues.

4 – Using TCW575 – Joyful Sunflower once again I peel off the tape from the inner portion of the stencil and add tape this time to the outer petals ready to stencil through the inner part of the stencil with TCW9009 – Black Modeling paste.

5 – Use gesso and black paint to clear up any over stenciling and dry all the paste across the page. If you add a little extra heat to some parts of the petals you can bubble the stencil butter to add some pretty texture to the petals

6 – Finally add some dark blue to the inner part of the stenciled image and highlight the word ‘LOVE’ from the background image in the same sunshine hues used in the sunflower.
