Mixed Media Art Using One Stencil Design

Happy New Year! Today I’m going to show you an easy way to use one stencil design in both 6×6 and 12×12 sizes to create colorful bold art. To create my art I used the follow.

  • TCW9053 Mixed Media Board 6×6
  • TCW948 Framed Flowers 6×6 and 12×12
  • TCW936 Messy Writing
  • TCW9009 Black Modeling Paste
  • Acrylic Paint

The Crafters Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I started by using the center of the flower in 12×12 Framed Flower stencil and added it to board with acrylic paint. I also added a little water to my paint to splatter. Splattering paint adds layers and textures and it also covers up any areas that you don’t like.

On top of that I added the 12×12 Messy Writing stencil. This stencil is one of my favorites. I love adding writing on my art work.

When it was completely dried, I placed the 6×6 Framed Flowers stencil on top and centered it on the board. To add the design to the board I used black modeling paste.

The best part is pulling off the stencil!

Here is a close up of all that texture.

Black modeling paste dries matte. I like it matte but if you want it to look shiny, you can use TCW9006 Gel Medium Gloss on top. It dries clear and shiny.

Here is the finished piece.

Its bold and colorful. Reversing it and creating this on the 12×12 mixed media board would look amazing.

If you use TCW Stencils, stamps and mediums in your art, we would love it see it. Please share it with us on our Facebook pageInstagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
