Art Journal Page – Sunshine wishes

Hello TCW crafters!

Join me to create this new art journal page… pretty butterflies flying through this beautiful stenciled tree “Sunshine wishes and Butterfly Kisses”

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

The Crafter’s Workshop
TCW831 – Faithful Tree
TCW9027 – Grecian Gold modeling paste
TCW9070 – Terre Verte Stencil Butter
TCW9064 – Turquoise Stencil Butter
TCW9061 – Chartreuse Stencil Butter
TCW9025 – Palette knife

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is a step-by-step so you can see how the page came together…

1 – Start with a fresh page and paint acrylic paint washes in dark blue (from the bottom) to light blue (at the top) in a semi circular fashion as seen in the video.

2 – Splatter some water over the background and mop off with a paper towel to create some visual texture. Make sure the background is totally dry before continuing.

3 – Using TCW831 – Faithful Tree fully over the right hand page, stencil through with TCW9027 – Grecian Gold modeling paste for the trunks and branches. Use a mixture of TCW9070 – Terre Verte stencil butter, TCW9064 – Turquoise stencil butter, TCW9061 – Chartreuse stencil butter to stencil in the leaves – You could also add in TCW9062 – Lime Green stencil butter.

4 – Using such a large stencil over the centre crease in the journal will make the area quite congested with paste. You can carefully scoop out the excess paste from the centre of the fold. Dry the entire tree very well before continuing.

5 – Once dry, use the same colour paint as the background to cover up any spread of paste that may have got into the wrong places.

6 – Stamp out various sizes of butterflies. I have used Darkroom Door’s rubber stamp set “Spread Your Wings” on this journal page. I stamped the images with black archival ink and fussy cut them out.

7 – Attach the butterflies randomly through the tree’s leaves.

White hand written words

8 – Use a white paint pen and write out a sentiment along the curve of the dark blue paint at the bottom left of the page. You can use a Stabilo-All water soluble pencil to give some guidance for your letters before you use the permanent paint pen.

9 – My words say “Sunshine wishes and butterfly kisses”– this sentiment is also included as a stamp within the same butterfly set if you would prefer to stamp it out.

10 – Lastly, watercolour lightly a little colour into the wings of the butterflies. Try to make the colours tone in with the beautiful TCW Stencil Butters that you have used on the leaves.

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my page and the video. Hopefully it gives you some inspiration to create your own butterfly filled Faithful Tree page

Enjoy!
