Hi creative people, Tammy here today to share another colorful creation!
I created this Art Journal Page with lots of the NEW products – oh my goodness! The stencils are amazing, the stamps incredible and the Butters – are beyond gorgeous!!!! And have you seen the colors? Yes a whole rainbow of them, totally up my alley!
TCW provided me with some amazing goodies to play with, but the art and the opinons are my own.
I just wish you could see this person. It has a gorgeous sheen that the camera just can’t capture.
Let’s take a look at how I created this one…..
I began by adding TCW9001 White Gesso to my large Dylusions Art Journal Page.
Whilst drying, I grabbed some of the NEW Stencil Butters. I used TCW9064 Turquoise, TCW9063 Ocean Blue, TCW3062 Lime Green, TCW9065 Fuchsia, TCW9069 Crimson, TCW9067 Gamboge, and TCW9066 Orchid.
These butters are gorgeous spread through stencils, but did you know you can use them like paints? The bonus is they have a gorgeous sheen unlike regular paint and they are super smooth and creamy to work with.
I decided that this was how I was going to use them for this page.
I began by adding the above colors to my background, just using my finger to apply. These butters dry quite quickly so you can move through your colors quite quickly.
Keep going until you have completely filled the page.
Now I add a NEW stencil by Valentina Ramos Harper. These new stencils are gorgeous, so much detail in them. I just know they will be used a lot in my future projects. For this project I chose TCW933 Joyous Butterfly.
I adhere it to the background with some washi tape to anchor it and then swipe TCW9009 Black Modeling Paste through the stencil using a spatula.
Gently lift the stencil……absolutely gorgeous!!!
I don’t worry about those little marks where I went over the edge of the stencil, once finished these will be part of the background and not noticeable at all!!
Let this dry completely.
Now I used one of the NEW TCW2301 Slimline stencils – Harlequin. I lay it down around the edges of my page and using a makeup sponge and some TCW9002 Black Gesso I sponge through the stencil, a few random diamond shapes, getting less as I come towards the butterfly.
Now I use some of the NEW Stamps – these are gorgeous, they stamp beautifully – so crisp and with so much detail.
Firstly I used stamp TCW2209 Beautiful Sentiments – can you see they have a matching stamp to the stencil – so I stamped that in a few places in the background with some archival ink. I used some of the colors that were in the background, as I wanted this part to be subtle and just add another layer of texture.
I also added some of the word stamps – I love that they are curved – they fit perfectly around the butterfly wings – I used black archival ink and repeated a few of the sayings.
I also stamped out the larger saying “Let your dreams soar” as this seemed like the perfect title. I just stamped it onto white cardstock, then cut it out and adhered with TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium.
Finally for the stamping part, I used the little hearts from the TCW2201 Sending Love Set and stamped them randomly onto the background, again with black archival ink.
When creating a piece that has no ‘white space’, I always add some white into the mix – this really brightens up the rest of the colors. For this piece, I add some white doodling marks to the stenciled butterfly using a white acrylic pen by Life of Colour.
I also add in some black acrylic pen scribbles and lines around the edge of the butterfly – the rougher the better!
Next I add some of the TCW9002 Black Gesso around the edges to create a border. I use my finger to swipe this on as I want it to be grungy and a bit rough.
Finally a few flicks of TCW9002 Black Gesso and it’s complete!!
I just love all those colors and to have a magical sheen to the whole page is just stunning!
I hope this has inspired you to play today, to perhaps apply some color using your fingers, or to add extra doodling or stamping to your stencils.
I’ll be back again soon, until then don’t forget to tag TCW by using the #tcwstencillove as we just love seeing what you do with these gorgeous products.
