Hello TCW friends
My page today was inspired by a recent index card experiment I completed using a limited palette. I really enjoyed it and wanted to try and upscale some ideas into my journal.

I was never intending for it to look exactly the same, but I hope you can see a similarity in the end and where my idea originated.
I began with these wonderful products from The Crafter’s Workshop :
- TCW855 – Linked Tiles
- TCW 9004 – Light & Fluffy modeling paste (which I color)
- TCW9001 – White Gesso
- TCW9011 – Matte Gel Medium
TCW9001 – White Gesso TCW9011 – Matte Gel Medium TCW9004 – Light & Fluffy modeling paste TCW855 – Linked Tiles
– The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own –
If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.
…here is roughly how it went step-by-step
1- Add collage to my Strathmore mixed media journal
2 – I tried a few ideas, but ultimately decided to go with coloring my modeling paste a mint color.
Modeling paste that is clear or white can always be mixed with acrylic paints and will retain all the same qualities to be able to stencil with it perfectly!

3 – Using TCW855 – Linked Tiles I stencil through the mint colored TCW9004 – Light & Fluffy modeling paste onto the bottom of the page.

Use long strokes when using modeling pastes, as if spreading peanut butter onto toast. Use as few strokes as possible to get a smooth application and finish.
Clean away some of the modeling paste from the center crease of the art journal, this will help to prevent sticking and assist with the journal closing properly
4 – Once completely dry I add rich teal watercolor washes over the stenciling to add some depth

5 – I grab some wax pencil and a soluble pencil and draw I some fronds
6 – TCW9001 – White Gesso is used to block out the leaf shoes on the fronds
7 – I use some black ink to drop large ink splats onto the page

8 – Then, to add some interest, I collage some of the leaves. Some in darker patterned paper and some in a handwritten letter paper, using TCW9011 – Matte Gel Medium
9 – Finally, I add some doodling, a focus word and some bright green smaller fronds in paint marker (the monotone pallets was tricky for me today! 🙂
I do hope you have enjoyed this walkthrough of my page and the video. Hopefully, it gives you some inspiration to create your own page using TCW855 – Linked Tiles

We would love to see your projects made with The Crafter’s Workshop products. Use #TCWstencillove with your project pictures.
Until next time… have fun!
