Hello TCW friends
Have you seen all the new release Summer stencils yet? You need to check them out… so many cute designs to choose from!! Can’t wait to work with all of them.
Today I have chosen a gorgeous lavender stencil designed by Carmen Medlin (TCW860 -Lavender) for a project that could be as easily completed within an art journal, as a card or a tag.
– The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own –
…here is the page, step-by-step…
1- Beginning with a blank sheet of watercolor paper, I sponged TCW 9011 – Gel Medium through the TCW5005 – Cookie and Cake Stencil – Swiss Dots. Once the medium was dry, the paper almost still looked blank. I then painted a pink watercolor wash over the blank page (Art-by-Marlene ‘bold & bright’ set). The gel medium , now dry on the page resisted the watercolor wash. You can see pale white dots showing up through the pink wash. I dried the page with my heat tool.

I made 2 of these background pages
2 – Next, I took the gorgeous new release TCW860 – Lavender stencil and some Dina Wakley Media (DWM) heavy body acrylic in Heather. I sponged a simple light layer of Heather through the stencil

3 – Going directly over the light mauve stenciling but offset a touch, I stenciled though the same stencil in a mixture of DWM Balckberry & Fuschia for the flowers and DWM peacock & lime for the foliage.

4 – I repeated this same method of stenciling on my other spare background. I stenciled each flower separately on this background

5 – I cut out each lavender stem from this second background with scissors. I cut two ribbons and tied them in simple bows, along with some rainbow covered wire which I had curled at each end.

6 – Finally, I assembled a posy of lavender stems, along with some rainbow wire fronds. I glued them together at a low point on the page. I glued the ribbons over the top and added a simple sentiment to the bottom of the page

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my design. Hopefully it gives you some inspiration to create your own Lavender ribbon page.
