Hello folks, Nancy here, and welcome to my final post as a member of The Crafter’s Workshop Design Team. It’s been a very full year; full of wonderful products, endless inspiration and the honor of working alongside amazing artists. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity I’ve enjoyed, but I will bid adieu with “a simple thanks.”
I hope you enjoy this tutorial for an art journal page using great new stencils and heavy body acrylic paints from The Crafter’s Workshop.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.
Supplies Used:
9″ x 12″ 140 lb watercolor journal
TCW712 12″ x 12″ Butterfly Trail
TCW715s 6″ x 6″ Happy Greetings
masking tape
foam brush, spouncer, applicator
baby wipes
heat tool
fluid acrylic paint: citron
TCW Blue Jellybean heavy body acrylic paint
TCW Raspberry Sorbet heavy body acrylic paint
TCW Kale Smoothie heavy body acrylic paint
TCW Orange Slice heavy body acrylic paint
TCW Blueberry Pie heavy body acrylic paint
TCW Candy Apple Red heavy body acrylic paint

raspberry colored pencil
bubble wrap
corrugated cardboard

Apply TCW Blue Jellybean acrylic paint and fluid acrylic citron to the journal page with foam brush; blend each color separately with baby wipes. Dry with heat tool.
Position TCW Tile Mania stencil and secure with masking tape. Using foam spouncer, apply TCW Raspberry Sorbet acrylic paint in select areas of journal page.
Add more design elements to the journal background with TCW Bauhaus stencil and both Kale Smoothie and Orange Slice acrylic paints.
Use TCW Blueberry Pie acrylic paint and bubble wrap, along with TCW Candy Apple Red with corrugated cardboard to add more design to the journal page background.
Apply a wash of TCW white gesso diluted with water. At first I tried a dry brush application of gesso, but wasn’t happy with the result. A wash of gesso gave me the desired result, which was to calm the colors and frenzy of the background so as not to interfere with the featured stencil design yet to come.
Position TCW Butterfly Trail stencil and apply black ink with foam applicator.
Add “Thanks” from TCW Happy Greetings stencil. Using a fine line marker and raspberry colored pencil add a hanging heart from the stenciled word. Add black ink to the edges of the journal page as a frame.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial for an art journal page using the wonderful new stencils, heavy body acrylic paints and white gesso from The Crafter’s Workshop.
It’s hard to believe that a year has gone by since I joined The Crafter’s Workshop Design Team. It’s been a fabulous experience. Many thanks to all who’ve read my blog posts and offered kind compliments. I wish all the best to the new Design Team.
Thanks for visiting!
