Happy New Year, everyone! Today I’m sharing one of those projects that feels like it will never work but, by continuing to experiment with more layers and tools, finally looks great in the end!
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post also contains affiliate links. The opinions I share are solely my own.
This zippered pouch was used to hold my husband’s shaver but the new one came with its own bag. So a new art supply holder was born. The idea for this design was to layer the Painted Lady stencil over the Daisy Chain stencil to create patterns in the wings. However, the acrylic paint colors that I choose were too transparent for the black fabric. In hindsight, I would have laid down a layer of white first but now I know!
I went back and forth with the stencils and different paint colors until I could see the butterfly shape enough to add some details.
Using a combination of black ink markers, paint makers and fabric markers, I was able to pull the butterfly shape out from the background. I also added more white to the background to further pop the butterfly.
In the end I created a pretty little design for a new gel pen zippered pouch! It just took some pushing through the ugly and finding the courage to keep experimenting with my supplies!
Thanks for joining me today…
