I am forever losing bookmarks so I thought I would make a few quirky ones to have on hand!
They are easy to make and would be fun to leave in the books I take back to the library!
I started off with a 8.5″x11″ piece of white cardstock that I stenciled all over with the Mini Believe Script stencil, black acrylic paint and a makeup sponge.
After cutting the cardstock into 6 equal pieces, I punched a hole at the top of each. I then used the Balzer Bits Eye template and a pencil to trace my eye shape on the bookmarks.
To add color to the eyes, I used Inktense pencils and a waterbrush. The colors of these pencils are super vibrant and blend beautifully.
To further enhance the eyes, I added sketchy black outlines with a Sharpie pen and highlights to the irises and lids with a white gel pen.
The final steps were to add a watercolor background around the eyes and use my black stamp ink pad to grunge up the edges of the bookmarks.
A black ribbon adds just the finishing touch and I am ready to sit down with my next book and enjoy the day!
Would you like to find one of these bookmarks in the next book you take out of the library? I always find it interesting what is left behind!
Thanks for joining me today!
