Upcycled Valentine

Hello! Tami Sanders here today with an upcycled project to share with you!

I am usually an INKY crafter, prefering to use inks instead of paints, pencils or markers. But a little while back, I treated myself to a set of gelatos. The colors were fresh and bright and I set them aside to play with “sometime”.

Well that “sometime” came this week. I was having a hard time getting back in the creative groove after the long holiday break. And the bleak, cold, gray and drizzly weather was NOT helping my mood. I needed SOMETHING to help me get going and remembered those gelatos I had tucked away.

The set of colors I had selected were all but SCREAMING valentine – so I thought I’d make a card. Valentine’s Day IS only about a month away!

Instead of cardstock, I decided that a page or two out of a second hand romance novel I’d recently finished would be fun to use. And I had several shopping bags laying around from holiday shopping, so I snagged one to use as the card base.

Here is the finished card…

I thought about adding some embellies to the card, but didn’t like anything I tried. I finally decided to just leave it alone!

If you wanted to make this card a little “fancier”, maybe use white cardstock for the background paper and mat on a black card. Sequins, rhinestones, ribbon or maybe a pearl head pin would all work to “dress-up” this card.

I used 3 stencils from TCW to make the card…

TCW382S – Mini Garden Gate

The Crafter's Workshop - 12 x 12 Doodling Template - Garden Gate

TCW228S – Mini Herringbone

and TCW2029 – All My Heart Bits

I put together a Snapguide that shows you how to make this card step-by-step and includes both photo and text directions: UPCYCLED VALENTINE
