Rainbow Art with Stencil Butters

Hello lovely creatives! Tammy (aka Tambarambaa) here today to share my latest creation!

This one is Rainbow Inspired…..just because I love color!

Rainbow page created using a large floral stencil and Stencil butters in rainbow colors

TCW provided me with amazing goodies to play with, but the art and the opinions are my own.

So let’s get started…..

Firstly gather together your supplies. I grabbed TCW9051 Watercolor Paper, Stencil TCW948 Framed Flowers, TCW Stencil Butters in colors that match the rainbow – Crimson, Marigold, Gamboge, Chartreuse, Ocean Blue, Turquoise and Orchid.

I turned over my sheet of Watercolor Paper – so that I was working on the smooth side.

I then laid stencil TCW948 Framed Flowers over the entire page and used some washi tape to hold it in place temporarily, whilst you apply the color.

I lined my Stencil Butters up in the order of the rainbow (just so I didn’t get too excited and out of whack!). Beginning with Crimson, I used a dry baby wipe (I love the softness these create and I love to feel the smoothness of the butter, which you lose when using a sponge) to wipe some over the stencil, beginning in the top left corner and gradually working across and down the paper.

I then repeat this with Marigold, blending them gently where they meet.

I then moved through the colors of the rainbow, ensuring I blended as I went.

I love it already! But the real magic happens when I lift up the stencil…..

finished this page - let's lift up the stencil

Once you have lifted, don’t forget to pop your stencil into soapy water to clean.

Let it dry…..

the result - the stencil leaves behind gorgeous white flowers with rainbow background

Now I plan to pop this one in a frame in my creative space, so I trimmed off the edge.

I decided to add a title using Stencil TCW686 Julie’s Words.

I laid the selected quote ‘Be YOU tiful’ over the center of the design and swiped TCW9009 Black Modeling Paste through the stencil using TCW9025 Plastic Palette Knife.

Love this result….

Now the final step is to rub some black ink around the edges of the page. This both frames the piece and ties in the black title.

That’s it from me today! I hope you give this a go. It’s a fun project that would look great with so many different stencils and would make perfect backgrounds for cards, scrapbook pages or an inspiring piece of wall art!

Thanks for joining me. I’d love you to leave a comment, so I know you were here.

Much arty love,
