Happy Wednesday all! Helen here with a little art journal spread I did. It isn’t my typical style, but I wanted to try something new. Sometimes, we just have to play, according to some of my team mates (you know who you are! LOL!). So, I thought I would try something different… and it actually didn’t turn to be the hot mess I thought it would! Not sure I like it yet, but I did spread my wings a bit! Next time I will stick to what I do best!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own.
The Crafter’s Workshop Products used:
- TCW9063 Ocean Blue Stencil Butter
- TCW9067 Gamboge Stencil Butter
- TCW9070 Terre Verte Stencil Butter
- TCW992 Festive Flowers Stencil
- TCW9002 Black Gesso
To start, I placed yummy dots of TCW9063 Ocean Blue Stencil Butter, TCW9067 Gamboge Stencil Butter, and TCW9070 Terre Verte Stencil Butter over parts of the 6” x 6” journal I am using for this. I then finger painted the colours over the entire page.
![To start, I put drops of the stencil butters... Ocean Blue, Gamboge, and Terre Verte over the page. I then finger painted these to cover the 6x6 art journal page I am working on.](https://i0.wp.com/www.thecraftersworkshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/hot-mess-1-1012x1024.png?resize=759%2C768&ssl=1)

Next, I used TCW992 Festive Flowers Stencil and sponged TCW9002 Black Gesso over the entire page. I pounced the sponge up and down so it wouldn’t go under the stencil.

A few spots went through, but that is OK I tell myself… I am just “playing”. It doesn’t always have to be perfect! (It actually looks a hot mess though! LOL!!)
![Showing the page after the gesso applied! It is a bit of a hot mess I must say!](https://i0.wp.com/www.thecraftersworkshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/hot-mess-4-919x1024.png?resize=689%2C768&ssl=1)
So I used some different colour Posca pens and doodled here and there over the page. The doodling did create a page I like, and I am going to use this for a front of a card for a friend’s birthday! We always joke that I can’t just “play” and that she is a hot mess turning 60.. so this turned out OK!
![Using some paint pens, I added some doodling to finish off the piece.](https://i0.wp.com/www.thecraftersworkshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/hot-mess-5-1.png?resize=595%2C598&ssl=1)
Thanks for taking the time to see my project for today!

It’s lovely Helen – much more than OK!
Thanks so much Julia!!
This is wonderful. I have “my” style, then there are the “other” styles. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing to dip your toes in the “other” pool. You never know you might have “an-other” pool to swim in. ..Mischelle
Thank you! And that is true about trying other “styles”, but I have learnt that messy is not me! LOL!! And that is perfectly OK!!
