My Own Little World: An Art Journal Page

Today I created I an art journal page using a new stencil TCW963 Hanging Vines designed by Ronda Palazzari. This is a great stencil and can be used for so many things. I also used TCW ColorSparx Watercolor Powders in Cerulean Blue that you can find in the set called TCW9057 Poolside, TCW9011 Matte Gel medium, and TCW9051 Watercolor Paper.

New Winter 2022 items won’t be available in the TCW store for consumers until February 14th. Coming soon to a retailer in your area or you can ask your local retailer to order them!!!

The Crafters Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

To start my journal page, I used a make up sponge to add the Hanging Vines stencil with white acrylic paint. Pull the stencil off and dry it with a hair dryer or heat gun.

I took the ColorSparx Watercolor powder and sprinkled it on my mat and sprayed it with water.

Take the watercolor paper and push the painted side into the ColorSparx. I moved it around a little to get it all on the paper. I pulled it up and dried it. Spray the paper with water and lay a paper towel on top so it will soak up the water. I pulled it off and left a very cool spotty effect.

I could have stopped but I decided I needed to add more color. Here is a technique I use for when I’m low on paint. I mixed a little bit of paint with TCW Matte Gel Medium. For more of a translucent paint you only need a little bit or add more for an opaque look. I use quite a bit of gel medium because I love to mixed other colors into it.

I flipped the stencil to the other side and added it to the page.

Having left over gel medium/paint mixture, I decided to change the color so I added dark green paint. With this color I added more of the stencil.

To finish the page, I used color pencils and markers to either highlight or darken the leaves. Here is the finished page.

With one stencil everyone can created a beautiful journal page with only a few colors a paint. Mixing it your paint with gel medium extends your low supply of paint until you have time to order more! I still have leftover paint to use and I will put it in a sealed container so I can use it again.

If you use TCW Stencils, stamps and mediums in your art, we would love it see it. Please share it with us on our Facebook pageInstagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
