Hello Pumpkin Mixed Media Sign

Good morning! Nicole here with a fun mixed media sign I created for fall. Fall is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share how I created this sign with you. For this project, I am using the TCW9072 Mixed Media Sign Board, TCW2425 Pumpkins in a Row stencil, TCW2435 Hello Pumpkin stencil and stencil butters.

Disclaimer: “The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.”

To begin, I used washi tape to tape down the TCW2425 Pumpkins in a Row stencil to prevent the stencil from slipping while I am applying the stencil butters.

Next, I selected the stencil butters I wanted to use for this project. I decided to use my favorite colors… Chartreuse, Marigold, Fuchsia and Turquoise.

Before applying the stencil butters, I had to decide which order I wanted the colors to go across the stencil. I used a palette knife to spread the Turquoise stencil butter through the different areas of the stencil first. When applying the stencil butter, try to use a generous amount of the stencil butter and apply it carefully through the stencil going in one direction to prevent the smears.

I cleaned the palette knife between each color so that the colors do not mix. Notice how I dabbed some of the Fuchsia over the Turquoise. I did this on purpose because I wanted the pumpkins to be multi-colored. You will see how I did this throughout this tutorial. Basically, once I finished coloring the pumpkin, I dabbed the excess over the turquoise.

Next, I grabbed the Marigold Stencil Butter and pulled the medium through the stencil using a different palette knife. Notice how I added a touch of orange to the other pumpkins. This process was so therapeutic for me! I had so much fun playing with the stencil butters.

Lastly, I applied the Chartreuse stencil butter to the remaining pumpkins using another palette knife.

Before I lifted this, I made sure all of the images were covered. I noticed that the last pumpkin was not finished… so I added a little bit of stencil butter to cover the area before I carefully, lifted the stencil.

I am so pleased with how this turned out! I let this dry a few hours and then I came back to add the sentiment using the TCW2435 Hello Pumpkin Stencil.

I used the Turquoise stencil butter for the “hello” sentiment. Once that was completely dry, I used the Fuchsia stencil butter for the “pumpkin” sentiment.

Ah, I just love this piece so much!! I haven’t played with the TCW9072 Mixed Media Sign Boards until this project… and I am so glad I tried this size! Most of the time, I like playing on a smaller surface, but this was super fun! I ordered a clear sign order from Amazon to display this piece in my home.

Are you ready to try making one of these for yourself? They are super fun to make and you do not need to be an artist to do this project! All you need is a few stencils and stencil butters along with a Mixed Media Sign Board and you are ready to get started! Click here to grab your products today for your next project. 🙂

Thank you so much for visiting today!
