Art Journal Page – Imagine

Hello TCW crafters!

Another art journal page offering from me today. Pretty butterflies flying across a magenta and turquoise floral style background… “Just Imagine!” – I even got to crack out the delicious stencil butters for those gorgeous, glimmering Valentina butterflies. The photos really don’t do them justice!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

The Crafter’s Workshop products used within this page

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is how the page came together step-by-step…

1 – On a blank page, I paint different shades of turquoise acrylic in a circular shape across the double spread. Leave some white circular space on the left page. Make sure the paint is dry before stenciling over it

2 – Grabbing TCW833 – Fantastical I stencil through, using a mixture of acrylics – Night, Blackberry, Magenta & Carnation (Dina Wakley colours). I try to blend these a little as I go. I am really not trying for perfection here but rather, effect.

3 – Over the top of this, I then grab TCW5017 – Lattice. I stencil the left side with turquoise and the right side with a dark blue (DWM Night). I add a few spots of the darker blue on the left side to tie it in

4 – Splatters are almost obligitory …yes?… so I add a few fluoro green splats to the page. I think they allude to greenery but I may just be crazy!

5 – Next I grab some loose mixed media card. Using the fab Valentina stencil TCW933 – Joyous Butterfly, I grab a few colours of the shimmery stencil butters and stencil through a mix of bright colours. Make sure to try to start this process with the lighter colours first and finish up with the darker to minimise the amount crossover of the colour.

6 – The first paste I use is actually TCW9026 – Champagne Gold modeling paste – this has a similar texture to the stencil butters and goes really well with them when adding some bling to a project. Next I use TCW9065 – Stencil Butter – Fuchsia along with TCW9066 – Stencil Butter – Orchid. I throw in a little TCW9061 – Stencil Butter – Chartreuse as well

7 – Once dry, fussy cut the butterflies out and attach them to the page using double sided foam squares.

8- Finally add a few more splatters and a sentiment. I use TCW585 – Inspired Words for this job, choosing the word…”Imagine”

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my page and the video. Hopefully it gives you some inspiration to create your own beautiful Valentina butterfly page

Enjoy!
