Journal Page ~ Be Creative

Good Morning! I am here with a few of my favorite things…ughmm techniques!

Stencil play in a journal

I have seen so many of fellow DT members play and incorporate a napkin in their journals,
so I decided to give it a try.

TCW provided me with some awesome goodies to play with, but the opinions and creations are my own.

I started with this black and white striped napkin and removed the back layer. I then added Gel Matte Clear Medium all over the two pages and adhered the napkin.

Don’t worry if the napkin tears on some spots, this is all fixable with hiding the bodies under paint and stencils! This does take a few minutes to dry. Carry on to the next step.

Quick finger painting plays with your gel press mixing three colors. Pull this print and let it dry. Next, stamp the house ( from Unity Stamp Company) with pigment ink (like VersaFine or Altenew Obsidian) and clear heat emboss this. The ink will smear on the paper if not sealed.

Play with the layout and different colors to mute the napkin. I also use Posca Pens
for a more solid color on the door and roof.

I wanted large flowers and decided on the TCW932 Peruvian Lily and blue and pink acrylic paints.

Keep adding different colors all around with your fingers. This is such a freeing and forgiving way to highlight or hide areas. Next, pull out the TCW203 Circle Grid stencil and white acrylic paint and paint across the pages.

The house finally got rooted on the left side but I wanted it to stand out. So I added the TCW287 Burst stencil and TCW9067 Gamboge Stencil Butter to look like rays from behind the house.

I found this sentiment from Dark Room Door stamps and thought that it was the exact size I needed…yeah, the sentiment is pretty spot-on as well!
I outlined it with a black pencil. Add more doodles and dots all over the pages.

I finished the page with adding washi tape under the house and a shiny tape around the page borders.

Isn’t she just the bomb? I just love my house and my crafty place.
I hope you liked today’s page mash-up! Let me know what technique you would like to try!
