Journaling Your Emotions with Stencils

Through this whole pandemic we have all missed those we love because we haven’t seen them for awhile. For me the person I miss the most is my daughter. She lives far from me and I’m use to traveling to see her or she’s coming to see me. The last time I’ve seen her in person was January 3, 2020. Thanks to technology I do see her but video calls are not the same as in person. I’m happy to say she will be home for a month this summer and I cannot wait. I’m so excited.

During the pandemic I have journaled many times and have turned to stencils to help me with the multitude of emotions I have had and still having. I can’t show you those personal journals but I can show you how I created one page that I thought really portrayed my emotions.

To complete this page I used TCW575 Joyful Sunflower, TCW9052 Super Thick Gel, TCW2203 Missing You Clear Stamps, and a piece of cardboard.

The Crafters Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I painted the cardboard in light blue and some white. When the paint dried I traced the Sunflower Stencil onto the cardboard.

As you can see above I only traced the seeds on half of the sunflower. You’ll see why in the end. I used an X-Acto knife and carved out the sunflower but only peeling off the top layer.

Next I added paint to left side of the Sunflower. I didn’t use yellow. I used pink. I always wished sunflowers were pink. Don’t you?

Next to add a little dimension I added some Super Thick Gel Medium. It’s crystal clear when dry so you can see the color right through it.

To finish the journal page I used the Missing You stamp set. I stamped it on a sheet of paper and cut it out for my cardboard journal page.

It’s not perfect and that’s okay. Emotions can be messy. The cut out part of the sunflower represent the part of me that I’m missing, my daughter. I can’t wait to give her a big hug when I see her in July. On that day at the airport, my emotions will be really messy. I better bring lots of tissues!!

Do you journal your emotions with stencils? Is there a favorite TCW Stencil you use over and over again? Please share it. I would love to see it. Share it with us on our Facebook pageInstagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
