How I Find Inspiration for My Art

Happy Friday Everyone!! Inspiration comes in many forms but for me it’s nature. Over the past year going only to work and coming home to my art room, I found that most of my art is nature. I love Spring and Summer. Trees, flowers, grass, even the weeds that pop up in the sidewalk cracks are all inspiration. I would say 80% of all my art is started from a substrate that has already been started. I love to make backgrounds on tag, paper, cardboard, canvas, etc. and put them aside to use at a later date.

For this project, I used the following:

  • TCW2402 Blessed Nest Sign Stencil
  • TCW2300 Gentle Leaves Slimeline Stencil
  • TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium

The Crafters Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

Here is a tag I pulled out of my pile. I looked at and immediately inspired me. What do you see looking at it?

Looking at the bottom of my tag my scribbling looked like a jumble of sticks and vines which immediately made me want to create a nest.

To start I added the leaves from the Blessed Nest Sign Stencil to my tag in multiple places.

Next, I added Gentle Leaves Slimline Stencil to the tag.

To finish the tag, I added some die cuts for a nest and to honor Mother’s Day on Sunday I added a Swan and her babies.

Here is my finished tag.

What inspires you to create your art? I would love to know. If you create any nature inspired art with TCW Stencils, please share it with us on our Facebook pageInstagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
