Spring has sprung my friends!!! I’m all for the warmer weather except for the pollen- I could do without that! I’ve been walking around my yard a lot more and I’ve noticed a bunch a little nests tucked within the trees and a few flower pots around the edges of my house. Since I can’t take them with me… an art journal page is the next best thing ESPECIALLY with the new TCW sign stencils!
There’s a link to the process video on my YouTube channel at the bottom for more details on this project.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I painted the entire journal spread in my Strathmore sketchbook with a coat of light blue and blue gray paint mixture. I then added layers of clouds on both sides of the layout by blending Salty Ocean Distress Ink with a blending brush over TCW2308 Clouds Slimline Stencil.

On the top left of the page, I sponged a layer of bright green paint through 12×12 TCW568 Moving Vines Stencil.

I placed TCW2402 Blessed Nest Sign Stencil in the middle of the layout and sponged Momenta green stencil paint through the leaves and Momenta brown stencil brown for the branches and the nest.

I filled in the stencil gaps with lighter shades of both green and brown acrylic paint with a small rounded paint brush. I also added lines and shading on top of the paint with Prismacolor colored pencils.

Below the branch segment, I applied a layer of Faded Jeans Distress Ink through 12×12 TCW865 Asian Floral Stencil with a blending brush.

Above the nest in the right corner, I very lightly added a layer of Faded Jeans Distress Ink through 12×12 TCW586 Raven Mosaic Stencil with a blending brush. I wanted a little something to be in the background to make the layout look cohesive.

In the top left corner, I stenciled a light layer of black acrylic paint through 12×12 TCW554 Butterfly Collage Stencil and two layers of black acrylic paint through TCW2411 Bless this Nest Sign Stencil with a blending tool.

In the bottom right corner under the nest, I stenciled a layer of black acrylic paint through 12×12 TCW554 Butterfly Collage Stencil and two layers of black acrylic paint through TCW2411 Bless this Nest Sign Stencil with a blending tool.
I finished the layout by adding dark brown and gold paint around the edges of the layout and a few gold and black paint splatters over the layout.
