Butterfly Changes – Art Journal spread

Close up of finished art journal spread

Good Morning all our TCW fans! Helen here with a little art journal spread using ephemera and stencil butter!  I use to do a lot of scrapbooking before I started art journaling and I still like to use some pretty papers in my journals today!  The design team received some pretty ephemera from 49 & Market, so I thought I would use this in my art journal spread today … along with some gorgeous turquoise Stencil Butter as well!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

Product Used:

I wanted to use TCW9064 Stencil Butter in Turquoise but wanted it a bit paler to go with the paper I chose, so I mixed some TCW9001 White Gesso with a bit of TCW9064 Stencil Butter in Turquoise. It still gave a nice glimmer to the finished project! Once I was happy with the color, I used a sponge and sponged this through TCW862 Maidenhair Fern Stencil into the corner areas of my journal page.

Mix TCW9001 white gesso with TCW9064 stencil butter in turquoise to lighten it, and then apply using a sponge to the corner areas of my art journal spread using TCW862 maidenhair fern stencil.

I then took TCW2210 Uplifting Sentiments clear stamps and stamped one of the butterflies onto a piece of 110 lb. white cardstock using Versamark and heat embossed this using black embossing powder. I colorized the butterfly using some Graphik line painters and fussy cut the butterfly.

Using TCW2210 Uplifting Sentiments clear stamps, I stamped a butterfly using versamark, and heat embossed this with black embossing powder. Colorize the butterfly using Graphk paint liners. I then fussy cut out the buttrfly.

49 & Market supplied the design team with a gorgeous package of ephemera called “Vintage Artistry Shore Ephemera Stack”. I used a few of the pieces from the package to make a stack of pattered paper for my focal point.  I tore the edges as shown and inked those using distress ink in Vintage Photo. I glued them together and adhered these to the right side of my spread. I added my butterfly and a few splatters of ink.

49 & Market supplied the Dt with a package of ephemera, and I stacked a few of these together, tipping and inking the edges for a base for my butterfly. I also added some splatters of the ink to my base page.

I did some stitching around the circle using some DMC floss and added a couple of x’s in the bottom corner. Adding a sentiment completes my project.

A close up of some stitching I did on my layers using DMC floss, added a sentiment and butterfly.

Here is my final spread!
