I’ve always loved moons and stars- the complexity and beautiful nature of the celestial galaxy should never go unappreciated. The simple fact that we humans know very little about space and how far it goes make it that much more special. My theme for my planner next year is galaxy so I figured I would start getting prepping for it by making a journal cover. It’s a lot easier than it looks!
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

On an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of black card stock, I squared off the center of the page with a faint pencil line and placed the 6×6″ TCW923 Celestial Sun Stencil right on top of the center point, aligning the horizontal lines together. I filled in the lines with a mix of both gold and white gel pen.
Throughout this drawing, I used a mix of size 1.0mm Uniball Signo Gel Pens in both white and gold. I also use sizes .5mm and .8mm white Sakura Gelly Roll Pens (some of the parts of the stencil don’t allow for the thicker nibs). A differentiation of line thickness makes for a more complex looking drawing with very little effort.

For the outside circle lines, lined up with the vertical pencil lines. I traced only a part of the 12×12″ TCW873 Orb Mandala Stencil with a white gel pen and connected the remaining lines together. The center of this stencil is almost the same size as the sun’s face which makes for easy alignment.

I filled in the moon circles around the edges and drew in an extra circle in the middle filled with gold stars from 6×6″ TCW5004 Star Shower Stencil.

For the inner circle and the outer corner edges of the layout, I stenciled in white star formations with 12×12″ TCW734 Constellations Stencil.
For the remaining finishes, I added some silver glitter additive from Brea Reese in the center circle for some added glitz and doodled a few more things here and there with white and gold gel pens.

See? Not too hard was it? I’m even going to do this one again to make a journal cover for my next year’s planner theme! Happy doodling!

Holly cow you did make this look do-able. Love stencils anyway but now they offer a whole new lens to view them through. Thanks for that.
