Mixed Media Globe

Hi everybody! Nicole Here. Today, I have a fun project to share with you! We are living in a crazy world right now with the pandemic… How are you holding up? When I’m not working, I am making pretty things! I’ve had this Wooden Globe from Foundation Decor in my stash for some time now. It was time to do something with it! So… I grabbed a few stencils, acrylic paint, modeling paste, thick gel medium, and just played!

Disclaimer: The Crafter’s Workshop and Foundation Decor provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To begin, I used White Modeling Paste and a palette knife to create flowers all over the Globe using the TCW157 Flower Frenzy Stencil. To speed up the drying time, I used a heat gun. After the Modeling Paste was completely dry, I covered the entire globe using turquoise acrylic paint. I waited for the paint to dry and then I used a tiny brush to paint the flowers.

While the flowers were drying, I painted the green grass and heart. Then, I used the TCW743 Crazy Waves Stencil to add a few circles and other patterns onto the grass. I kept the brush as dry as possible with just a little drop of paint to keep the paint flat to avoid smudging.

As the wood pieces were drying, I used my finger tips to smear a touch of red on the yellow petals. And then I used my finger tip to smear some white all over to break up the colors a bit.

Once I was satisfied with the flowers, I used the Super Thick Gel to glue the wood pieces onto the globe. Then, I added a few embellishments! I just love all the texture and patterns on this globe…and the flowers are sooooo pretty!

Thank you for stopping by today!
