Hello again TCW friends…
Trying out some new ColorSparx watercolor powders on my art journal spread today…. I love them!! Also using a couple of ‘new to me’ stencils – TCW725-Wild Blooms & TCW541-Believe Script
These are the products I used in today’s spread
- TCW9004 – Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste
- TCW9011 – Matte Gel Medium
- TCW541 – Believe Script
- TCW725 – Wild Blooms
- TCW792 – Micro Dots
- TCW246 – Swiss Dots
- TCW9057 – ColorSparx – Poolside set
- TCW9060 – ColorSparx – Desert Ranch set
- TCW9055 – ColorSparx – Berry Punch set
– The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own –
You can jump right into the video to see the page come together quickly. Captions are included to show you what products I am using as I go
here is a rough step through…
1 – I begin by spraying Dina Wakley Media (DWM) gloss sprays through TCW246 – Swiss Dots randomly with Carnation color.
2 – TCW541 – Believe Script is my next go-to, spraying through with DWM fuchsia gloss spray on the right and stamping the leftover spray onto the left side of the page
3 – I felt I needed more dots (can never have too many dots! 🙂 ) so then went through TCW792 – Micro Dots with DWM Lime acrylic paint
4 – I begin to quickly flesh out a face and hair with pencil. I create a dress from pink spotted paper
5 – Using TCW541 – Believe Script again… this time stenciling through a mix of DWM Blackberry & Night.
6 – The dress goes down with TCW9011 – Matte Gel Medium to adhere.
7 – I pull out TCW725 – Wild Blooms and have a bit of a practice using TCW9004 – Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste and the ColorSparx powder.
8 – I mask off the stencil so I can just use a single frond of flowers for my design and I then stencil the plain TCW9004 through the stencil.
9 – Carefully I add the dry pigment powder SPARINGLY directly to the paste. You will see in the video it begins to activate as it soaks into the modeling paste.
10 – I give the paste a couple of light sprtizes of water and dry before moving the stencil across the page
11 – I run wax pencils over the flowers to give them more definition.
12 – There is a little more stenciling and stamping with TCW541 – Believe Script to give the impression of curls in my girl’s hair and some color added to the outer edges of her big hair.
13 – Some shading behind her hair to give the background depth, some significant work to refine the details of her face
14 – Hand-written lettering “Live Gently” finalises the page.
I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my page and the video. Hopefully it has inspired you to use your own TCW stencils in a new way or to give ColorSparx a go… would love to see what you create!
Have a great day!
