Welcome back friends, thanks for joining me.
I would love to share my art journal page with you today.
This is a pretty simple page but therein lies the beauty. Sometimes less is more. I especially love the contrasting colors between the soft pastel and the navy blue. Lets get started, and I’ll show you what I mean.
You can watch the full process video down below:
Starting out in my Dylusions art journal. I spray the pages lightly with water, because I want a soft flow to this page’s background. Now adding some color.
(List of all the products are listed below the video in the description box.)
Now grabbing a BRAND NEW Stencil TCW908 Handcut Blossom and adding some soft mustard color to part of the stencils on the inside, and more of the neat background color to the outer layer of the stencil.
Also adding the pattern to the left hand corner of my journal.
Now I can draw a focal image into the circle on the right side, but today, I just used printed tissue paper from Dina Wakley. I adhere the tissue paper using TCW Matt Gel Medium.
TOP TIP: When working with tissue paper images, its better to rip the edges rather than cutting, because this creates a more natural looking edge, in stead of looking stuck on.
Now I want to add some contrasting color. I decided on a dark blue. I use a NEW STENCIL TCW 921 – Word stem for this, and wow, what a gorgeous stencil.
I also added some more of this left over blue on my page using a wet baby wipe to move it around, and some mark making using my finger.
TOP TIP: When your working with delicate stencil images, less paint is the way to stencil. Make sure you have only a small amount of paint on your applicator. This way, the paint will not seep through the stencil and ruin your crisp image.
Once the flower images are completely dry, I take my white Gelli roller pen and outline the gorgeous images to make them pop.
I also want to add some black journaling to the page, and for this I simply use a black sharpie marker.
Simple and easy page with a striking effect, what do you think?
Till next time friends 🙂
