Spring Paper Bag Album

I have loved paper bag albums since I first started paper crafting over 10 years ago. with this album, I used gesso and liquid acrylics to stencil on fun spring-like motifs.

To begin each page, I used a palette knife to apply with TCW9002 Black Gesso or TCW9001 White Gesso of the majority of the page. Along the binding edge, I paint a 2″+/- section of the opposite gesso. On the other side of the page I did the opposite combo of gesso.

At the overlap of the two gesso’s, I applied a 1 1/2″-ish wide section of a green background paint. All gesso and paint is applied in a rather haphazard method.

Next I used another green to stencil on leaves. I used TCW414 Four Ferns, TCW885 Cut Outs, and TCW389 Fancy Feathers for the leaves on the pages. I used the same leaf motif twice each.

I outlined the leaves in either white or black fine point pen, depending on the color of the background and Gesso. After the leaves are outlined, I added floral motifs with a variety of colors using sections of TCW882 Fantasy Tile and TCW899 Striped Mandala for those florals. I then outlined the floral motifs with the white and black pens.

Once all the pages are complete, they can be bound using your favorite method (I used my Stack the Deck system here.

I added tags and photo mattes to the pocket with coordinating color card stock and black card stock.

The Crafters Workshop provided me with some of the materials included in this post. Any opinions regarding these products are entirely my own.

Happy Spring crafting!!

  1. So glad to see this wonderful craft idea has not been relegated to the ‘Trash bin’. Simple but effective. Great job.
