This is Ujjwal and today I am sharing a mixed media canvas with a dream catcher theme that I made as a gift for a newly married couple. I used lots of different TCW stencils and mediums to get build the texture. I also documented the entire process and have a photo tutorial for you to understand how the canvas developed from the beginning. The supplies used are also listed at the end of this post in case you want to check them out.
DISCLAIMER: THE CRAFTER’S WORKSHOP PROVIDED ME WITH SOME PRODUCT TO CREATE THIS PROJECT. THE OPINIONS I SHARE ARE SOLELY MY OWN.
Here are the steps I followed to make the canvas:
I started by adding some pattern paper using TCW9011 Gel Medium on the canvas.
Next, I toned down the pattern paper with a coat of TCW9001 White Gesso.
Next, I used some spray paints and added colour to the canvas. I did this in layers, that is, adding colour on top of colour to build more complexity.
Next I used the TCW Stencils TCW801 Skylight, TCW802 Prismatic, and TCW809 Ocean Window along with TCW9046 Modeling Paste to add texture to the background.
I also covered an embroidery hoop with burlap string and adhered it to the top left corner of the canvas. And then I picked up some embellishments – flowers, laces, feathers and embellished the dream catcher on the canvas.
I hope you found this tutorial useful and enjoyed looking at the project today. I will see you again next time.
