Hi Arty Friends. Jeanine here from My Arty Heart, and today I want to share an art journal page with you.
You can view the full process video here:
I haven’t taken out my Distress inks in ages, literally over a year or more. Sometimes I feel bad for my supplies just sitting around, not getting any love, but mostly because I am frugal, I don’t really enjoy the fact that they don’t get used. I am not a save the expensive perfume for a special occasion type of girl. I wear it to bed, knowing if I die in my sleep tonight, at least I will do it smelling great. So the inks were staring at me from the top shelf, and I thought lets use them with a stencil. Step 1… Use ink through a stencil. I used the TCW815 Magnolia Blossom.
After I sponged the ink on the paper, I thought I would fussy cut around them and have a bunch of faux die cut images.
Then I outlined the images using a permanent marker.
Now I want to use matching and contrasting colors on an art journal page background to highlight those flowers. I am using dylusions paint and blending it with my fingers. (Vanilla custard, Peony blush, vibrant turquoise)
Now I want to create some interest, so I sponge on some TCW Heavy Body Acrylic paint – Spun sugar, through stencil TCW815 Magnolia Blossom and TCW807 Dot Script. I am supper happy with this background now, and place the flower cut outs around the bottom of the page, and adhere it with TCW Matte Gel Medium.
Adding a hand written quote in sharpie marker.
Finishing the page off with some doodles.
I hope you guys enjoyed this page and got some ideas of how to use your inks with stencils. I also hope that you won’t hoard all your art supplies, and USE them, because life is short. Make your art supplies count!
See you all next time.
