No Rain, No Flowers: A Mixed Media Canvas

I love summer! The warm weather, sunny skies, beautiful flowers and the rain. It’s my favorite time of year and it’s short-lived.  It’s the middle of July and I already want to start from the beginning so it never ends! This mixed media canvas was created with that thought in mind.

Supplies:  12″x 12″ Canvas Panel, TCW753 Desert Mirage, TCW750 Dahlia Bloom, TCW9004 Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste, and acrylic paints.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

So I painted the background blue, added some white for a few little clouds, and used the stencils to more to the background.

Next step was adding the clouds and the rain.

To add more dimension I used Light and Fluffy Modeling paste through the stencils.

A received a question about how I put my modeling paste on so perfect. It’s never perfect and you can see from the photo above (leaves in left corner) and the photo below. I love that it’s not perfect. It gives it more texture and character.

I waited for the paste to dry and painted it. If you see the cloud below I added water to the cloud, watered down the paint and added white and then purple. It makes such great effects.

Here is the final piece.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. You can see all the TCW Stencils and Mixed Media Goodies on Scrapbook.com.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.
