be a somebody to everybody

hello everyone!

i am so excited to share today’s post. it is one of those projects that one starts to create and it just keeps building and building until it ends exactly where you want it too!!

Please note that although i have received some of the products used to create this project from some great companies, the opinions I share are solely my own.

so during Creativation this year i feel in love with the oxide on gloss paper technique from Tim Holtz and made a few pages with it but alas ran out of paper and in the meantime remembered i had some black  gloss paper so thought maybe that would work

oh how i loved where this was going.. so while this piece was drying i thought i would try a whole page and started layering my colours

but i discovered something…. this turns out to be not the same kind of gloss paper as the white.. so what to do… i figured i needed a layer between my oxides and the ‘outside’ to preserve the layer so i searched my stash and found an old bottle of goosebumps. i spread that out over my entire page and ended up smearing my colours more than i had intended but you know what… it turn out wonderful so i just needed to decide how i was going to do the next step.

so i went back to my original piece of black gloss paper as well as a piece of heavy white cardstock and started applying some modeling paste through my stencil in various colours

once it was all dry i then fussy cut out the pieces and started the process of layering the bits together

i loved how these pieces all look together.. now was time to lay them onto the background!!

to finish i found a quote that i thought was perfect. to me it looks like the mermaid is talking to the jellyfish so…..

i then just used my black marker and outlined most of my page, added some bits of modeling paste to the page and then called it done

and now here are a few close ups!
