Hello folks, Nancy here, and welcome to a tutorial for an inspirational art journal page.
The beauty of an art journal is the opportunity it gives you to try out new ideas and techniques. Such was the case with this journal page. I’d been wanting to play with stenciling on teabags and decided to use that technique on this page.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I decided to use mandala stencils for this “follow your path” art journal page. Mandalas remind me of the Labyrinths that folks use for meditative walks in the new year.
Place 12″ x 12″ Infinite Lace Stencil onto journal page. Paint over entire page/stencil with TCW Clear Gesso. Dry with heat tool.
Apply mustard yellow acrylic wash. You’ll notice the difference in shades were the gesso acted as a resist. Dry.
Using 6″ x 6″ Mini Infinite Lace stencil, 12″ x 12″ Daisy Chain stencil, aqua acrylic and foam spouncer, add design to the tea-stained teabag papers.
Cut teabag papers into strips and adhere to journal page using glue stick.
Separate just a bit to show background, but still show the essence of the stencil pattern on the teabag.
Add washi tape to the design.
Rubber stamp message with Staz-On teal ink onto vintage book paper. Ink edges with deep lagoon fluid chalk ink. Adhere to page with glue stick.
Apply fluid chalk ink to the edges of journal page as a frame.
I hope this tutorial encourages you to experiment with new ideas and techniques using The Crafter’s Workshop stencils.
Best wishes for a happy new year and a path to happy times!
