Happy (almost) Christmas stencil lovers!! I have been busy wrapping up Christmas gift and preparation, literally and figuratively! Several weeks ago, I bought a dozen of these small drawstring burlap bags from the craft store. They are about 4″x5″ and have a gold sheen to them. I thought they would be fun to decorate or stencil for various holiday crafts and the perfect size for these DIY bracelets, my daughter and I put together.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I used the 6×6 stencil ‘Mini Christmas Words’ and the 12×12 Art Deco Alphas for the bags.
Using an ink dauber and several colors and types of inks, I stenciled the Mini Words onto one bag in greens and one in reds. The bag took the ink very well and it leaving the colors more muted, giving the project the rustic look I was going for.
I repeated the same process with the red inks and shifted the stencil a bit, getting some of the other words on this bag.I wanted to add one letter, for my nieces initials to the bag, eliminating the need for a gift tag. I layered the letter onto the bottom right corner and used several layers of ink to darken it up. You can see the finished project below! I love the little bit of gold shining through. I think they look great with the style of bracelet we chose and it was a simple way to create a gift within a gift! My favorite kind…I can really see me using other stencils for more burlap projects in the future!! 😉 I hope this inspired you to used your stencils for gift bags or tags, adding a hand made touch to your holiday!
