Hello there everyone!
It is me, Marlene Meijer-van Niekerk (ART BY MARLENE). Today I am happy to be share a new tutorial using the great stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop. So are you ready? Today, I have a very short and sweet tutorial ! I hope you like cats my friends….because we are making a feline friend today!
I should mention before I start that The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post might contain affiliate links. However the opinions and the stenciling techniques I share are solely my own.
As the base for my project I used one of my gelli plate prints, using a variety of stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop. This gelli print was made on 300grams (24 x30cm) watercolour paper.
I used black Americana Craft paint and a sponge dabber to stencil the cat.
Now choose 2 to 3 colours of translucent paint to cover your background. I used High Flow acrylics from Golden, if you don’t have it….just add some matt medium or airbrush medium to any acrylics and you will achieve the same translucent look. Remember: only cover the space outside of the stenciled area.
You can add some highlights to you cat’s eyes with a white gelly roll pen.
With DecoArts Dazzling Metallics I added some highlights on the cat and the yarn.
I wanted some more highlights in the background, so I finished my project off by stenciling White Americana paint through the TCW267 “stencil ledger”, designed by Jaime Echt for The Crafter’s Workshop.
Well….I guess I am finished! Thanks for following this step-by-step photo tuturial and till the next time!!
I hope you enjoyed the project and I am looking forward to your comments!
