Here’s an easy little project for all you planner addicts…a trio of pretty textured butterfly planner clips!
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post also contains affiliate links. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I found a few different types of clips in my stash and thought that might be better than buying more stuff! I also used a piece of cardboard from some packaging and four stencils with adorable butterfly patterns (Class Picture, Butterflight, Butterfly Collage and Whimsy Garden).
The first step was to apply modeling paste through all of the stencils onto the cardboard. Once that was dry, I painted the butterfly shapes with white acrylic paint. I then sprayed each of the butterflies with a different color of DecoArt Media Mists and wiped off any excess with a baby wipe.
The fourth step was to dry brush with more white acrylic paint. I then shaded around all of the butterflies with Inktense pencils that matched the colors and a waterbrush. Finally, I highlighted all of the texture with a white paint marker.
After cutting out all of the butterflies from the cardboard, I decided that the orange colored one wouldn’t work but I still had three pretty designs to work with. I added a touch of black stamp ink around the edges of each designs for a bit more interest.
I then glued or tied on a piece of Sari ribbon to each clip depending on the style clip. The butterflies were glued on top of the ribbons and a bit of black and white striped baker’s twine added all of the antennas!
I now have a set of pretty clips to help me find special sections in my planner. You can read more about how I decorate my planner with stencils here!
