Can you believe 2015 is almost over?! In just a few days we’ll be ringing in the new year! I thought I’d create a new art journal page for just that occasion 🙂
I wanted to keep the colors soft and subtle and let the gold be the bold pop through the page.
I started by gesso-ing the pages, then covering them with gold and pink Gelatos. I inserted a tag to the binding and colored it in blue and gold.
Most of the layers I added are in white. I used this “Organic Matter Mask” over most of the pages. I love the subtle texture it added… not sure why it took me so long to use this one!
Next I added some modeling paste over the “Receipt” stencil. I only used this on the pages and not on the tag. I made sure to rotate the stencil so I have some lines horizontal and some vertical. I just find that’s more appealing to look at 🙂
Now it’s time for my pop of gold! I used the “Nautical Chains” mini stencil to add some borders along my tag and a bigger element on the pages. Once the paint dried I used the “Art Deco Numbers” stencil to add 2016 to the tag with modeling paste.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a happy and safe New Year!

So simple in design but definitely effective. Love the coloring!
