Welcome to Friday! This is Rachel Kleinman here to share a fun technique to try with your TCW masks (or Bits and Fragments). So let’s mask your masks!
This card uses three TCW stencils and is quick to put together…
Start with a Bit or Fragment and a patterned stencil. I’m putting the design on a piece of white cardstock (4″ x 5.25″) with my Rock Crystals stencil on the bottom and the Sugar Skull Bit on top.
I taped the Sugar Skull to the cardstock to keep it in place. Now I inked around the mask onto the cardstock, being careful not to get any ink inside the Sugar Skull. I added a second ink color in a similar shade to add some depth to the background.
Remove the Rock Crystals stencil and position the Sugar Skull Bit back into the masked spot. Tape the mask down so it doesn’t shift and trace the outline.
Now go in with two colors of ink and blend inside the Sugar Skull Bit. I used a yellow and pink to blend the pattern easily.
To finish my card base, I added some black modeling paste through the Word Associations stencil to make the word ‘imagine’. Once the paste dries just add it to a folded card base and it’s finished!
Since the technique was so simple I threw together another card…
For my Dream card I used Daisy Splash as the background and Hot Air Balloon Fragment for the mask.
After creating these cards I see my Bits and Fragments in another light! I hope you give this technique a try to create some unique cards and art journal pages with your masks. Happy stenciling!
