Lydell with you again sharing some creations with the NEW Crafter’s Workshop Templates.  There are so many really great templates….I know….there always is….but I love quite a few and can see myself going to several fav’s time and again!

I always like creating a stash of PL cards ready to go to when I need to get cracking with a new spread.  I am often falling behind, with all the things I have on, and I need to be able to get stuff out quickly and use what I have when I am ready.  So this stash will come in really handy, when I am looking for a particular colour, or just the right card!

Here’s a little look at how I did some of these…..

Some cards are simply sprayed over the templates.  This one is just the simple handwritten word ‘family’ with a texture spray from Imagine Crafts, (just before I pulled up the template from the paint)  These cards are really simple in design, and can stand to have some added elements when I go to use them.

These ones are Watercolour Paints sponged through the stencils.  I used a cosmetic sponge and dipped it in a watery watercolour puddle, stamped off a few times, so its not too wet……then sponged through the stencil.

Something helpful to using some of the stencils effectively is this tip.

Mask off an area of the Templates which have several patterns on the one stencil.  I use painters tape, masking tape will work fine.  That way you get a clean print, without getting unwanted areas printed in your design.

Another way I got prints Is using texture pastes and a palette knife to swipe the paste through the stencils.  This leaves an embossed (raised) print, which looks really effective.

I used Shimmerz Dazzlerz in varying colours.

Another way I used the stencils to get prints is with Distress Inks.  This is probably the best way to get a crisp clear image, that looks quite graphic and clean.  I used a blending tool (a foam pad) which is sold specifically for the inks.  The results are quite striking on white card.

I liked this particular stencil print so much I did the same print with the same colour to use in one PL layout, so the page has a themed print across the spread.  I will mix it with other cards to coordinate.  I punched out some text shapes to accent.

You can also get creative and mix products together for interesting effects.  Here I used the Texture Spray “IrRESISTible” to spray the watercolour card.  I let it dry and then went over it with the silver Dazzlerz through a stencil.
