Celebrating Friends with The Crafter’s Workshop

Hello Creatives!

Today is a very special day here at The Crafter’s Workshop…today is the birthday of our amazingly awesome, stupendous, lovely design team coordinator…Cheryl Boglioli!!

ROUND OF APPLAUSE!! STANDING OVATION!! HIP HIP HOORAH!

With my post being on her birthday, it got me to thinking about our friendship and just friendship in general…and I had this thought: Friends are the Beauty of Life.

When things are going rough and the world seems gloomy and grey…friends are there to brighten it all up and keep you focused on the good things.

Even a butterfly can make a pile of ashes seem less harsh because…even for a moment…it takes your eyes of the negative and shows you there is still beauty in the world despite tragedies and hurts that might come.

So today…the project is for you Cheryl…by birthday twin…my mentor…my soul sister.

Mixed Media using Butterfly Collage-Full Canvas

I started with a gessoed background that I added Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Harvest and French Lime and Tattered Angels Chalkboard in Firefly.

I then mixed cheap black acrylic craft paint with Liquitex Basics Gloss Gel Medium and scrapped it through the 12×12 Butterfly Collage Stencil, using only the cup rings and butterfly portions.

Next, using the 2 sizes of butterflies from 6×6 Butterfly Collage Stencil, I added pink and blue butterflies by rubbing Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos in Watermelon and Cotton Candy through the stencil with my finger.

I added fun accents from the 6×6 The Story Stencil using my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft PITT Artist Pen in Black. I also used the same pen to add shadows around my cup print. This pen is great because is remains wet for a few seconds after you apply it so you can move it around and use it for shading, but once it is dry, due to it being India Ink, it becomes permanent.

I also a circle stamp from the July 2014 Layers of Life Set by Unity Stamp company (“Beautiful Wish”) to add more texture using Rangers Archival Ink in Black and accented with white gelatos.

My words are just handwritten on white card stock with a ballpoint pen, cut out and then distressed with Gray and Black Faber Castell Design Memory Craft PITT Pens and gelatos in Lemon, Margarita and Watermelon.

I finished by edging the whole project in gelatos in Black, Gray and Snow Cone.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today and it inspires you not only to be creative…but to remember the beautiful people in your life.

Happy Birthday, Cheryl!

XOXO,

KERI
