Inspired by pop art…

Inspired by pop art mixed media canvas

Hello there! It’s Yvonne here to share my creative inspiration.

I’ve always been fascinated by pop art colours and thought it would be fun to pull the colours from my photo [my three nephews + 1 niece] and extend it to the background of my mixed media canvas.

There were mostly parts from an old lighting – wires and nuts, fibers and lace. Then I went over with a layer of gesso. I added some Liquitex Resin Sand medium with the Viva La Art TCW 448 stencil at random spots to add more texture and interest to the canvas.

After that, I played with Daler-Rowney Pearlescent Acrylic Inks, spritzing with water and then adding colours at random spots with my fingers.

Then came the really fun part – pulling out all my little embellishments to add pops of colours on the entire canvas – my version of pop art! 🙂

Hope you’ve been inspired to work on a pop art piece yourself!

Cheers,

Yvonne
