CD’s and Stencils: City in the Round

Hi Karenliz here.

Working as an IT manager we accumulate lots of software CDs that get thrown out after each new version.  Why waste a perfect CD when I can stencil on it?

Supplies:
Stencils: TCW166 Sunburst and TCW 342 Urban Landscape
Old software CD/DVD
Various colors of Acrylic Paints
Modeling Paste
Tissue Paper
Clear Gesso
Black Sharpie (Thin)

The first thing I did was sand the label on the CD, apply a coat of clear Gesso and then added the acrylic paints. Once it was completely dried I stenciled the buildings on with a black Sharpie and used the TCW166 Sunburst stencil with modeling paste in the center.

I applied paints to the center and the buildings and used the TCW 342 Urban Landscape again to add the windows to the buildings. I used black paint and stenciled the words from the TCW 342 Urban Landscape stencil on tissue paper and attached them in between the buildings.

There you have it my city in the round.  Now I’m addicted to creating on CDs. You may see more of these.

Grab your CDs and get creating! Thanks so much for stopping by!
