Art Journal Page – Adventure

Good morning TCW Crafters,

Come with me on an adventure… ‘forest bathing’ within my art journal. Using TCW1044 – Tree Canopy to create a painterly styled grove of fir trees. Hope you enjoy what I created!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

The Crafter’s Workshop products used within this page:

TCW1044 – Tree Canopy
TCW1045 – Texture Wall
TCW9094 – Chocolate Stencil Butter
TCW9090 – Terracotta Stencil Butter
TCW9087 – Marcasite Stardust butter
TCW9002 – Black Gesso
TCW9025 – Plastic Palette knife

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here’s how it went step-by-step …

1 – Start by painting deep teal acrylic across 2/3rds of the page. Keep the brushstrokes rough to add texture. Splat some water over and pick up colour with a paper towel – this is also to add texture.

2 – Take TCW1045 – Texture Wall stencil and stencil through some quick colour for placement using TCW9094 – Chocolate Stencil butter and TCW9090 – Terracotta Stencil butter

3 – Next I use TCW1045 – Tree Canopy and stencil through, firstly with TCW9002 – Black Gesso and then I drop the stencil a little – you can hardly tell in the video, so maybe drop it further down than I did 🙂 Stencil over again with white gesso.

4 – With watercolours add some black details to the foliage. Add additional details to the trunks and leaves using some Stabilo Woodys in green, brown and yellow.

5 – Moving back down to the base of the page, add some texture using TCW9087 – Marcasite Stardust butter on the rocks and a mixture of TCW9090 – Terracotta Stencil butter and TCW9094 – Chocolate stencil butter roughly over the bricks. Add some watercolour washes over the dry texture paste to minimise the stark white lines and add some depth.

6 – Finally add some washi tape words – and that is done!

I do hope you have enjoyed this forest art journal page walk through. Hopefully it gives you inspiration to get you sitting down at your craft table to use some of the fab TCW stencils and new stencil and stardust butters in your next projects

Enjoy!
