Art Journal Page – Starflowers

Hello TCW Crafters

Pretty starflowers in my journal today. I really love this stencil – TCW945 – Starflower Net – I have used it over and over since I got it. Today I pair it up with TCW2317 – Fence Grid, some embossing powder and my DWM Kraft journal. Hope you enjoy what I created today!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

The Crafter’s Workshop products used within this page:

TCW945 – Starflower Net
TCW2317 – Fence Grid Slimline Stencil

If you enjoy seeing a page created quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is how the page came together step-by-step…

1 – Begin with some blank pages. Spray stencil TCW945 – Starflower Net with Dina Wakley Media gloss spray in rouge. Use the stencil as a stamp and flip it over onto the blank page to leave a clear pink impression of TCW945 – Starflower Net. Make a few of these pages to fussy cut later.

2 – Begin in a journal. I have used my Dina Wakley Media Kraft journal but a white paged journal would work equally as well. I use TCW2317 – Fence Grid Slimline Stencil and stencil through with embossing ink. Use a light pink embossing powder and heat to emboss the image across the page.

3 – I take some watercolours and loosely paint across the embossed image to give some colour to the background. I did this randomly with deep pink and a light purply-pink (that’s a colour…right?). I mop off the excess colour from the embossed image.

4 – Splatter some fluorescent yellow splatters lightly across the page. Dry off the page completely.

5- Fussy cut some circles of starflowers from the stamped pages that were completed earlier.

6 – With watercolour pencils, colour in the background of each of the circles of starflowers. I used orange and blended it out to yellow toward the edges of the circles

7 – Try and find a pleasing situation for all your pieces across the page – this definitely took me longer than it should have. I pfaff about it the video for a while 🙂 Attach all pieces onto the page with 3D foam squares

8 – Add a sentiment or two and add some blue to the centre flowers of each fussy cut circle of starflowers.

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my page and the process video. Hopefully it gives you some inspiration to create your own art journal page using TCW stencils and pastes.

Enjoy!
