Take Your Place Mixed Media Art Journal

Take Your Place Mixed Media Art Journal by Renae Davis

I used to be addicted to coloring book pages with alcohol markers but I never knew what to do with my collection of pages that I spent a lot of time on. When I saw the release of the peacock feather stencil, I knew I had the perfect opportunity to showcase one of my favorite pages along with this delicate stencil design.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

For the background (mainly on the left side of the art side journal) I sprayed a layer of Dylusions Island Parrot spray ink directly onto the page. I placed 12×12 TCW946 Petal Mandala Stencil onto and sprayed Dylusions Calypso Teal spray ink on top. The result is a muddled version of the stencil which is exactly what I wanted for a background.
On the far left side of the layout, I applied layers of TCW9063 Ocean Blue Stencil Butter, TCW9061 Chartreuse Stencil Butter, and TCW9066 Orchid Stencil Butter through 12×12 TCW967 Playful Plumes Stencil with a palette knife.
To the right of the feather, I drew on some thick dark blue lines with a paint marker and wrote a quote on top with a white gel pen.
At the top and bottom of the left side of the page just above the washi tape, I stenciled TCW9002 Black Gesso through 6×6 TCW963 Hanging Vines Stencil. I glued down my focal image on the right side of the art journal layout.
