Peace for Ukraine Mixed Media Art Journal

War affects everyone. With the constant news coverage of the war raging across the seas, my heart is in a constant state of prayer and concern for the innocent people and animals caught up in this catastrophe. I know some of feel almost useless when it comes to things of this nature, but we are not without hope. Do what you can to support those who are struggling. We can always be kind wherever we go…

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

For my first layer in my art journal, I sprayed Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Spray on the top half of the layout and Antique Linen on the bottom half of the layout. For the second layer, I sprayed darker variations of the same colors (Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Spray) through 12×12 TCW969 Illusions Stencil.

As a bonus, I flipped over the stencil and let all the extra ink soak into one of my Bible pages. I plan to do another prayer page for Ukraine and this perfect background. Two backgrounds in one sitting and no waste of ink!

On the left side of the layout, I glued down a set of sunflower head printables (His Palette on Etsy) in various placements on the page. I then applied TCW9070 Terre Verte Stencil Butter with a sponge through the stems/leaves of 12×12 TCW863 Sunflower Meadow Stencil.

Using a sponge dauber, I applied black acrylic paint through 6×6 TCW968 Summer Meadow Stencil across the bottom of the layout.
Using a sponge dauber, I applied black acrylic paint through 6×6 TCW954 Medieval Music Stencil mainly across the top of the layout and some ghosted areas across the page.
