Creating a wreath…

Hi there TCW creatives!

Tammy (aka Tambarambaa) here again to share another handmade card. This one is a lot of fun, as you create a wreath using a variety of stencils.

wreath birthday card created using stencils

TCW provided me with some awesome goodies, but the art and opinions are my own.

So let’s begin….

I began by trimming some of the TCW9051 A4 watercolor paper in half. I then used TCW970 Color Wheel as a guide, placing it in the center of my paper, and marking a circle lightly with a pencil. I used the second circle in from the edges.

Next, I grabbed this NEW stencil TCW968 Summer Meadow as it has so many different flowers and leaves on it, I knew it would make a gorgeous wreath.

I selected leaves and placed them around the circle line, and then used Distress Oxides and a blending tool to rub color over the stencil. I made sure I used a couple of shades of green in the Oxides to get a more natural look.

adding lots of different types of leaves in different greens until you have a wreath

I continued this process, all the way around, and also added some leaves from stencil TCW963 Hanging Vines.

Time to bring in a few pops of color. For this I again used TCW968 Summer Meadow, this time concentrating on the flowers and berries within the stencil, blending with some blues, pinks and oranges.

adding some pink, purple and orange using flowers and berries on the stencil

I placed the berries around the wreath, but focused the flowers to just one cluster. This then became the perfect spot to add in a sentiment.

I trimmed the card down to 5.5 inches and then on some that I was discarding I stamped a sentiment using black archival ink.

I used one from TCW2206 Sweet Sentiments Stamp – I love how they are on a curve, and this fit perfectly around my wreath.

I had a few little marks of color, where my color had gone over the stencil marks, so to cover these I grabbed this gorgeous little branch/leaf stamp from stamp set TCW2203 Missing You and stamped it strategically to cover these up.

For the final step, I added a few little marks with a black pen here and there.

All ready to adhere to a 6×6 inch card and give to someone special on their special day.

I’d love you to give this a go! Don’t forget to tag us using #tcwstencillove so that we can see all your amazing creations using TCW goodies!
