A Walk in the Woods with TCW Stencils

On one of those teaser days where it’s sunny, warm, and it feels like Spring, I took a walk. Although sunny, everything is still in shades of gray except for a peep of pale green coming out from a rock. This was my inspiration for this piece. It’s a little abstract but look at like you were looking at the ground during one of your walks.

The Crafters Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

To create this piece I used the following stencils and mediums:

I started by adding white gesso to my wood panel and dried it with a hair dryer. I then added the Splash Whoosh stencil to the background.

I dried this layer and continued by adding one of the circles from TCW965 Encircled stencil.

Next I mixed some gray paint with Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste to add the Splash Whoosh stencil to the board. I wanted it to look like a rock so I used my pallet knife to roughen it up. I also added a few vines from the Summer Meadow stencil.

One thing to remember when using Light & Fluffy Modeling it’s white so when you mixed colors with it they will be a lighter shade.

Now that everything was dry, I realized I wanted to add flowers from the Summer Meadow stencil before I added my rocks. Oops! I decided to use painters tape and cover what I didn’t want touched with paste. For the most part it worked out.

I added a little more greenery from the Summer Meadow stencil and pulled off the painters tape and let it dry.

Its a little messy but while it’s wet take your palette knife with a pointy tip, and scrap off the extra modeling paste. If you do it right away, you will be able to get it off.

I used neutral colors for the blah colors of winter but I’m really loving them. I hope you can see the what I saw on my nature walk. That little peep of green tells me Spring is on it way. I’m so excited.

If you use TCW Stencils, stamps and mediums in your art, we would love it see it. Please share it with us on our Facebook pageInstagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
