Mixed Media Paper Doll Project – The Girls

Hello TCW Crafters

I love making pretty little girls in simple dresses, perhaps you have seen them before in some of my other TCW projects.

They can be used for all kinds of things… stickers, bookmarks, planner inserts, gift tags, decorations… the list is endless! They are super fun to create… so today I decided to revisit them to create some cute paper dolls for my planner. Using pretty stencils for their dresses and hair-dos, all in shimmery stencil butters from The Crafter’s Workshop.

Hope you enjoy what I create! 🙂

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go shead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is how the page came together step-by-step…

1 – Begin by cutting some arch shaped paper in different sizes and colors aswell as some circles in different tones for heads.

2 – Using a selection of stencils and different colored stencil butters, stencil through onto the arched card – these will become dresses.

3 – Using watercolors, pool color over the stencil to give the stencil some shading and depth and to add a three-dimensional feel

4 – Next, stencil another 4 patterns of stencils onto different colored papers and cut out circles in two different sizes from each paper..

5 – When making hairstyles, cut circles the same size as the card you cut for the heads. Seperately cut smaller circles to be buns and bunches.

6 – Once hair styles have been cut and styled, glue in place and draw simple faces onto the dolls

7 – Attach all relevant pieces together with glue. Tilt the heads to one side slightly and arrange different hairstyles to give the girls some personality

8 – For the girls you see below I used 4 different stencils for the dresses and 4 different stencils for the hairstyles

TCW936 – Messy Writing (hair) – paired with TCW944 – Monarch Journal (dress)
TCW947 – Beaded Mandala (dress) – paired with TCW937 – Rows of Lines (hair)
TCW2198 – Sunflower Spray Sign (hair) – paired with TCW938 – Mystical Doodles (dress)
TCW2401 – Flowery Wheelbarrow Sign (hair) – paired with TCW2415 Dogwood Branches (dress)

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of how I made my cute planner paperdolls. Hopefully it gives you inspiration to make your own, or to try some of the fab TCW stencils and texture pastes in your next projects

Enjoy!
