Playing with all the NEW Stencils!

Hi there creative souls! Tammy aka Tambarambaa back again to share another bright bold art journal page.

This one features lots of the NEW TCW stencils!! Oh my they are just gorgeous! You see my DT box arrived and I just had to take a few of them for a spin. I had no plan…….here’s what I came up with…..

Art Journal page featuring bold colors and lots of layers of stencils with black and white flowers running across the page

TCW provided me with these awesome products to play with, but the opinions and art are solely my own.

So let’s take a look at all those yummy stencils!!!!

I began by adding a layer of TCW9001 White Gesso and once dry I added some pink paint and then placed TCW935 Secret Garden Stencil down and rubbed the paint off through the stencil using a wet baby wipe.

I then added more paint and repeated this step…..this is what I was left with. Love that pattern so much!

Next I used stencil TCW937 Lines and sponged paint through it using a makeup sponge.

I also did the same with stencil TCW941 Rainbow Montage – so cute!

I decided to add a bit more TCW9001 White gesso in just to calm the page down a little.

adding layers with different stencils. lots of layers and different patterns

Now I added TCW9002 Black Gesso through the very center of my page! EEEEKKKKKK. This can be scary but it gives a great results. You will need to work quickly as the gesso dries very quickly. Just use a brush and whack it down – don’t overthink it!

Whilst still wet, I came in with TCW936 Messy Writing Stencil – I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. Anything with words and scripts has my heart straight away, and I love that this is scribbly words……..so usable! Anyway back on track, so place it over the gesso and again remove the black gesso with a wet baby wipe through the stencil. You may need a few wipes ready to go….. this bit can get messy.

Now I came in with TCW955 Buffalo Plaid Square Stencil and added some paint through it. I also added some more of TCW937 Lines Stencil.

Ok time to add something on top. I pulled out my stamps and selected TCW2202 Love You.

stamping flowers onto white cardstock using archival ink and then cutting them out

I stamped a few of the flowers using an archival ink and cut them out. I then placed them across my page and adhered with TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how much we as women need to uplift one another, come together and celebrate each other. Nothing makes me sadder then when women tear each other down. So I decided to add some journaling to suit this. These quotes come from a digital pack by an arty friend of mine Tanya Froud. You can find them HERE.

I used one of the leaves stamp from the set TCW2202 Love You and stamped directly onto my background, positioning them so they looked like they were trailing from the leaves.

I then added some journaling, a few flicks of paint and sponged TCW9002 Black Gesso around the edges of the page to finish it off.

Love combining stencils to create mark making in the background of my art journal pages. Every time I do it, it’s different and I get beautiful combos of color as they layer up. It’s really magical and so relaxing to create.

Why don’t you have a play with layering your TCW stencils and feel that magic. It’s the best!

Don’t forget we’d love to see what you do, so tag us using #tcwstencillove so we can see it!

If you’d like to see more of my art I share loads over on Instagram HERE.

Much love and arty hugs
